The University of California is proposing revisions to the Pay for Family Care and Bonding portion of the UC systemwide PPSM-2.210 (Absence from Work) policy. The proposed changes will increase the pay calculation for Pay for Family Care and Bonding from 70 percent to 100 percent of an employee’s eligible earnings. The increase is planned for implementation on January 1, 2023.
Berkeley Lab’s Pay for Family Care and Bonding (PFCB) policy in the Requirements and Policies Manual (RPM) follows UC’s PPSM-2.210 policy. As such, Berkeley Lab will accordingly update its PFCB policy to reflect the change from 70 to 100 percent of an employee’s eligible earnings effective January 1, 2023.
Both PPSM-2.210 and Berkeley Lab’s PFCB policy apply to non-represented employees only. Represented employees should consult their collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Employees covered by this policy who wish to provide comments on the proposed revisions may submit them here by November 11, 2022.
