- January 2023
- Pay for Family Care and Bonding policy – updated to increase pay calculation for Pay for Family Care and Bonding from 70 percent to 100 percent of an employee’s eligible earnings.
- November 2022
- Severance policy – editorial changes to clarify severance eligibility for laid off employees who are on temporary deferment.
- September 2022
- Temporary Change of Station policy – removed existing gendered pronouns and replaced with gender-neutral language.
- August 2022
- Administrative Leave for Emergencies policy – removed existing gendered pronouns and replaced with gender-neutral language; minor reformatting and editing for clarity and closer alignment with UC policy; updated sole implementing document into the new policy procedure template.
- Appointment, Student Assistant policy – edited benefits section to provide eligibility for Core benefits under the Affordable Care Act.
- Regulations Implementing UC Policies Applying to Campus Activities, Organizations, and Students policy – removed gender pronouns and replaced with gender-neutral language.
- Violence in the Workplace policy – removed existing gendered pronouns and replaced with gender-neutral language; updated implementing documents.
- July 2022
- Affiliates policy – removed the following requirements for minor affiliate: documentation of age and enrollment in a California educational institution, approval of appointment by Division Director and Chief Human Resources Officer. Renamed section from “Minor Affiliates” to “High School Students”. Other minor edits for clarification.
- Employee Development Leaves of Absence policy – corrected salary payment table to be consistent with Contract 31, Appendix A.
- Employee Records policy – removed obsolete section 1.e. Disposition on Termination, removed existing gendered pronouns and replaced with gender-neutral language.
- June 2022
- Reduction in Force policy – removed outdated Implementing Documents, removed existing gendered pronouns and replaced with gender-neutral language.
- May 2022
- Training and Development policy – new policy as a result of separating existing Education and Employee Development policy into two policies.
- Tuition Assistance policy – new policy as a result of separating existing Education and Employee Development policy into two policies.
- April 2022
- Compensation policy – in light of Assembly Bill 168 (AB 168) and to align with UC policy, language added to state that Berkeley Lab will not request or rely on an applicant’s or candidate’s salary history in determining salary or whether to offer employment, removed existing gendered pronouns and replaced with gender-neutral language.
- Work Deferment policy – removed out of date implementing documents.
- Workers’ Compensation policy – removed existing gendered pronouns and replaced with gender-neutral language
- March 2022
- Hours of Work policy – revised to align with UC policy including: (1) added section on meal periods, (2) added section on activities before or after work schedule, (3) added section on travel time, and (4) updated section on overtime for non-exempt employees to 40 hours in a workweek.
- February 2022:
- Military Leave policy title changed (previously called Military Service Leave) and revised to align with UC policy including (1) added Civil Air Patrol Leave as a type of military leave, (2) added a section on Supplement to Military Pay, and (3) removed outdated section on National Defense Leave.
- Employee Morale Funds policy title changed (previously called Employee Activities Association (EAA) Use of Funds) and policy updated for clarity.
- January 2022:
- Holiday policy revised to add Juneteenth holiday and to align with UC policy.
- Family and Medical Leave policy revised to update change in CFRA adding parent-in-law to definition of family member.
- Sick Leave policy revised to update change in CFRA adding parent-in-law to definition of family member.
