The RPM Affiliates policy has been revised effective September 1, 2021. The drivers for this revision were to address gaps in the previous version of the policy, provide clarification on compliance, and mitigate institutional risk. Key revisions cover and expand on a variety of provisions such as types of affiliate engagements, affiliate and host eligibility and responsibilities, and affiliate rights and limitations.
An affiliate policy working group benchmarked similar policies at other DOE Labs, and consulted with a variety of Berkeley Lab stakeholders, including division and Lab leadership, affiliate hosts, Division Business Council (DBC), User Facilities, the OCFO, Lab Counsel, Requirements Management Committee (RMC), and many functional areas across the Lab. Additionally, an Elements article with a draft version was circulated in January 2020 for Labwide input.
